BackgroundIt’s well known that smoking and diabetes are direct causes for serious health problems such as cancer, and atherosclerosis. It is suggested that smoking indirectly leads to atherosclerosis by influencing nutrient intakes as smokers tend to eat more fat and carbohydrates and less mono unsaturated fats and fiber than non-smokers.
